Cyber security threats

January 12th 2022 marked the kick-off of Discretion, a Lisbon based event hosted with help from Elecnor Deimos. It addressed the problems of complex computer threats and cyber security problems. Technologies such as quantum key distribution, software-defined networks and others were discussed. Such technologies are being used to build scalable, secure, and resilient networks for advanced operational services.

Quantum technology

Several key cyber initiatives have taken place in Europe, making use of quantum properties in communication, computation, and security. This particular event was aligned with the European strategy to provide fully encrypted end-to-end services in defence fields. Elecnor Deimos hopes that this groundbreaking tech will reinforce EU defence and enable EU Armed Forces to communicate in secret.

Industry and government support

The event orchestrated by Elecnor Deimos received support from several bodies, including the Portuguese national security authority, Ministry of Defence, and Chief of Defence. Other bodies such as Telefonica Investigacion y Desarrollo and the Polytechnic University of Madrid showed their support too.

A triumph for Elecnor Deimos

The event has been a huge stepping stone for Elecnor Deimos, showcasing the use and need of quantum technologies for future communications. It was a triumph, given how involved all parties were during the event. It was certainly a unique event that has helped turbocharge cryptographic capabilities. In the future, it is hoped that such events will have paved the way for increasing cyber security. Not just for military use and private business interests, or for Elecnor Deimos business, but for the general population all around the globe.
