Kodiak rocket Launch
The Pacific Spaceport Complex is located on the island of Kodiak in Alaska. The Spaceport opened in 1998 and is operated by the Alaska Aerospace Corporation, incorporated in 1991.
The first Kodiak rocket launch took place in August 1998.
In August 2014 one very notable rocket launch from Kodiak resulted in massive failure and caused significant damage to the launch tower and other connected buildings and facilities. It closed for two years to carry out the repairs.
The Kodiak rocket launch facility has historically been used for military purposes, but lately there have been several commercial launches from the spaceport.
