UK Space Race

Great Britain has been one of the leading space power countries since the early 20th century, but so far, the only rocket built and launched by the UK was Black Arrow. Several Black Arrow modifications have flown in the 1970s, but the programme was curtailed as unprofitable shortly after. For half a century, the UK focused on building satellites rather than rockets.

Now, however, the UK Space Race is in full swing all over again as Great Britain plans to commission seven spaceports of its own. As part of the British Space Race, local companies build new lightweight rockets to carry payloads to orbits. The first launches may already happen in 2022, taking the UK to a new level in the 21st-century space game.
