Snowdonia Space Centre secures £500k funding from UK Space Agency

With three potential vertical rocket launch sites in Scotland as well as proposed horizontal launch sites in Prestwick and Cornwall, a prospective launch site in Wales has now secured funding from the UK Space Agency in an announcement at this week’s UK Space Conference.

The funds for the site at Llanbedr in Gwynedd will go towards building the facility that will eventually launch satellites into orbit.

Llanbedr lost out to Sutherland in a previous round of funding for the creation of a spaceport back in 2018.

Like Prestwick and Cornwall, the Snowdonian site will launch satellites horizontally from aircraft.
