Venture capitalist Lane Bess to join space tourism craze with Blue Origin

The news hit the net recently that famous venture capitalist and ex-CEO of Silicon Valley, Lane Bess, has booked a space tourism joyride with Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin. The news gained traction as thousands of negative comments poured in, claiming that this kind of ‘billionaire’ flex was in poor taste. The outrage comes from the recent ‘billionaire bashing’ that targeted Richard Branson‘s Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin’s Jeff Bezos for their ostentatious display of ‘space tourism’.

Blue Origin to carry valuable tech cargo and two passengers on next mission

Lane Bess and his son won’t be going into space on Blue Origin’s next flight alone – the rocket will be carrying a payload of valuable technology. No information has been shared regarding the nature of the tech, but we can safely wager that it has something to do with the ISS.

When approached for comment on his upcoming trip, Lane Bess joked that the trip would be a wonderful father/son bonding experience. “I got a kick,” Bess said.

Bess wouldn’t divulge how much the two tickets had cost him, stating that he wasn’t at liberty to discuss that information. Judging by recent news in the space tourism centre, a nice cool million per entry is a given.

Bess claims this space tourism trip has been his life’s dream

Bess said that he didn’t think space tourism flights would become possible in his lifetime.

He said that he’d jumped on board the idea the moment Blue Origin had mentioned it to him. This was the most unexpected and the most spectacular opportunity, definitely worth taking.

Bess hasn’t commented on the negative outpour of comments, saying that his next venture adventure would include helping others travel into space. Blue Origin’s next space tourist shuttle is scheduled for mid-2022.
