Sutherland Spaceport
Plans to build the Space Hub Sutherland on the A’Mhoine peninsula were announced in Summer 2018. The project reached a public consultation phase late in 2019 when Highlands and Islands Enterprise shared detailed plans during a number of local events. The Sutherland Spaceport has had a mixed reaction amongst locals with a number of objections around potential environmental issues and a negative impact on local birdlife.
Two companies, Lockheed Martin and Orbex Space, have secured UKSA funding to build the Space Hub Sutherland.
