York Space Systems has won a contract from the US Space Force to deliver small satellites to support national security missions. As a part of the Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract, the Denver-based aerospace company will get $237 million to facilitate the supply of these satellites.
York Space Systems To Support National Security
Since this contract deals with matters of the US national security, there is little detail on how it will operate. However, we aren’t totally in the dark regarding this new Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract.
By awarding this contract to York Space Systems, the US Space Force is expressing confidence in their ability to deliver and their product offerings. The Denver-based aerospace company has recently launched its Space System Service offering for mission-ready space capabilities under a commercial framework.
This new offering from York Space Systems will be of use to the US Space Force as it works to protect against foreign security threats. With the Space System Service offering, the US Space Force will be able to rapidly scale production models and operational spacecraft services.
The contract will also cover future defence missions that will rely on space technology and services. Some of these missions are remote proximity operations, space situational awareness, and Golden Dome demonstrations.
To support all these missions, York Space Systems will rely on the small satellites that make up the Space Service System. These satellites have been built, integrated, tested, and are now fully functional, with this new contract, they will help support matters of national security.
York Space Systems Expresses Confidence In Its Satellite Offerings
Speaking on this new contract, Melanie Preisser, GM and Executive VP of York, says that it “is another important step forward in how our national security partners are leveraging proven commercial providers to meet urgent and evolving mission requirements.” She adds that for years her firm has been demonstrating its ability to “deliver high-performance, affordable satellites fast and at scale.”
Preisser also expresses confidence that York will be able to rapidly respond to the needs of various missions under this contract. York isn’t the only party benefiting from this new contract, as the US Space Force also benefits.
Michael Lajczok, CTO of York says, “This contract opens the door for the Space Force to field resilient capabilities with the speed and agility the moment demands.” Over the coming years, both parties will work to ensure that matters of national security relating to the contract are effectively handled.
