Recently, we reported that two big solar eruptions were on their way to Earth and could create amazing Northern Lights. That prediction came true on 16 April, when skies across several states lit up with bright colours. Some social media users have already started posting the first photos online, and they look stunning.

Northern Lights Over Scotland
Lisa Pattenden (@London_Lady) captured a stunning view of the aurora stretching across the night sky, bursting with vivid colours.
“This night keeps delivering. It’s still going! Beautiful colour variations and everywhere!” she wrote.

Brilliant hues dance over Orkney! Claire Meakin captures another shot of a vibrant aurora display lighting up the Scottish skies.

Aurora Display In Ireland
Alan Mac Cárthaigh (@AlanMcC82) was left speechless by the aurora display over West Cork, Ireland. Just before Easter 2025, the Northern Lights lit up the skies with an “amazing appearance” around 11 pm, he shared.
