The Blue Origin all-women crew are preparing to head out to space in a historic flight and the firm’s first all-women flight. In a recent turn of events, we see some changes to this crew’s suit, as they now fit each crew member’s body structure for maximum comfort.

Blue Origin All-women Crew To Use Specially Tailored Suits That Fit Their Body Structure

While there have been a lot of women who have gone to space on various missions, there has been just one all-women crew flight. This flight dates back to 1964 when Russia sent Valentina Tereskova to space aboard the Vostok 6 spacecraft.

With this launch set to take place on 14 April 2025, it will be the first all-women crew to head out to space with 6 crew members. All members on this flight are of high social status, hence the hype and criticism around it.

Aboard this flight will be Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyễn, Gayle King, Katy Perry, Kerianne Flynn, and Lauren Sánchez. To make this flight more comfortable for these women, Lauren Sánchez called on Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, creative directors of Oscar de la Renta, to design special suits for the mission.

These will be body-con suits that are designed to fit the body type of each of the crew members aboard this flight. The suit features a dual-zip front, a zip on each leg, and small pockets for the arms.

This move by the Blue Origin all-women crew wasn’t an easy one, as there were some challenges surrounding designing these suits for each crew member. One such challenge pointed out by Fernando Garcia is the fact that there was no precedent from Blue Origin for designing female suits.

The Blue Origin All-women Crew From Special Suits To Makeup And Hair

Aside from the new suits that have been unveiled for this mission, the crew members will don themselves with makeup and nice hairdos. This will be the first time that anyone will be wearing makeup and having a nice hairdo on a space mission.

While this mission will last only 11 minutes there seems to be a ton of beauty preparations from the crew members. The flight will reach the internationally recognized boundary of space where the crew members will experience zero gravity.

This mission will take off from the Blue Origin Launch Site One on Corn Ranch in West Texas. It’ll be aboard the firm’s New Shepard rocket and it will be the firm’s 11th human launch into space.
