Starlink Dishes Are Now Free To Users In Some Regions Beyond The US
14th Apr 2025
The global satellite connectivity market is stiffening with rising competition, and SpaceX is offering free Starlink dishes in some regions. This new move is in a bid to help the firm battle the competition and ease the growing disdain towards the brand due to recent events.
Starlink Is Shaking Up Things In Some Regions
In places like Italy and Australia, Starlink is now shaking up its offerings to entice more people to rely on its services. For these areas, the satellite service provider is now offering users its dish for free while giving a few deals with this mouth-watering offer.
With this offer, Starlink hopes to attract more users who might jump on the deal, which gives them access to satellite connectivity at a cheaper cost. In an X post, Willar Shoko, a Starlink researcher and consultant, shared official details from the firm regarding this new offering.
The image in the post, when translated from Italian to Englis,h reads “Get a Starlink Standard kit for 0 € 349 € in exchange for a commitment to a Residential service plan for at least 12 months.” From this information, we can see that behind this impressive and mouth-watering offer from Starlink, there is a clause which users need to keep in mind.
Users can only keep the standard kit for free if they stay on a Residential service plan for at least 12 months. Failure to maintain their subscription will mean that they forfeit their free dish.
In Australia, the firm says that customers will pay for the free dish if they “cancel, change their address, modify their service plan, transfer their Starlink kit to another user, or fail to pay their monthly bill.” From this new deal, we can now see that truthfully, not all good things come easy, as there are some prices to pay.
Starlink Struggles To Regain Its Firm Grip On Some Regions
A few years ago, Starlink was the only name to come to mind when one thinks about but that isn’t the case any more. Now the satellite communications industry is expanding with more players entering the playing field.
In Europe for example various governments are looking for better options than Starlink in their region. This move is in response to the US government’s hostile behaviour towards Ukraine, threatening to pull Starlink out of the region.
Now firms like Eutelsat are rising to replace Starlink in Ukraine and ten most of European. Faced with this pressure, the US satellite connectivity service-providing firm is coming up with new ways of attracting customers.
