“It’s So Much Money”: Actress Olivia Munn Slams Blue Origin’s All-Female NS-31 Space Launch

On 27 March 2025, Blue Origin announced the details of their NS-31 mission, an all-female flight. While this launch will be the firm’s 11th human launch, it is currently attracting frowns from some onlookers who have come out to publicly question the launch efforts.

Blue Origin’s All-Female Flight Faces Celebrity Criticism

Blue Origin NS-31 mission crew members are Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyễn, Gayle King, Katy Perry, Kerianne Flynn, and Lauren Sánchez. All six crew members will board the Blue Origin New Shepard rocket and launch into space for a complete 11 minutes of thrill.

While this might be exciting for some, others like Olivia Munn, a popular actress, don’t seem to flow with the idea. In a recent interview on the show, TODAY with Jenna & Friends, Munn aired some of her concerns regarding this coming space launch.

“What are they doing?” the 44-year-old actress joked with host and former first daughter Jenna Bush-Hager. “Like why?”

Munn argues that “It’s so much money to go to space.” She insists that the money for the entire trip can go to another cause. She implies that the money can help people “who can’t even afford eggs. I think it’s a bit gluttonous.”

Another line of argument that she brings is that the fuels from the rocket launch aren’t good for the environment. She believes that space missions or launches like this should be for the betterment of human society.

According to Munn, “Space exploration was to further our knowledge and to help mankind.” She goes on to ask a thought-provoking question, “What are they going to do up there that has made it better for us down here?”

This isn’t the first time that important people in society are heading to space for exploration. However, this is the first all-female crewed space mission to launch since 1963, so it will leave its mark in the books of history.

Well, such flights like this aren’t free as the participants pay for the trip like they would for a regular airplane flight. For now, there is no official detail on the total cost of this mission or the price per crew member.
Comparing this mission to the Virgin Galactic space tourism missions, we can expect each seat to cost over $600,000. With plans to launch on 14 April 2025, we expect to get more details about this coming space launch.
