Lunar Family Portrait: Firefly’s Space Legacy in One Epic Photo!
14th Mar 2025
Firefly Aerospace has shared a breathtaking image that perfectly captures the essence of their growing space capabilities. As the team prepares for the upcoming FTLA006 launch, they seized the opportunity to make a “family portrait” featuring the Alpha rocket in Vandenberg and Blood Moon with the Blue Ghost lander on its surface — all under the stunning backdrop of a lunar eclipse.

The image, taken by Trevor Mahlmann, highlights Firefly’s expanding role in space exploration, showcasing its ability to launch, land, and orbit for its customers.
Blue Ghost, currently operating on the Moon as part of NASA’s CLPS initiative, represents a milestone in lunar surface exploration, while Alpha remains a key player in delivering payloads to orbit.
The company announced earlier that Blue Ghost will witness a rare eclipse from the Moon. This would be the first time in history a commercial company will be actively operating on the Moon and able to observe a total solar eclipse where the Earth blocks the sun and casts a shadow on the lunar surface.
Alpha FLTA006 is the second mission Firefly is launching for Lockheed Martin and the first of Firefly’s multi-launch agreement with the company that includes up to 25 missions over the next five years.
