Musk’s Deam May Become Reality: Trump Wants the US Flag on Mars

On 5 March, US President Donald Trump made his desire to plant the American flag on Mars and other planets clear to lawmakers. His speech made this desire clear, and it resounds with the US goal to be at the frontier of space accomplishments in the world.

American Flag Might Soon Be Planted On Mars

Currently, about five countries have their flags planted on the Moon as they have been able to send launchers to the lunar body. Now the US government seems to have their eyes on yet another solar body on which they wish to plant their flag.

This solar body is none other than Mars, as the US has been making efforts to learn more about the Red Planet over the past few years. US President Donald Trump is now taking an interest in not only the Red Planet but other planets that US astronauts can step foot on.

In a recent statement to Congress, Donald Trump speaking of the US said “We are going to conquer the vast frontiers of science.” He adds that the US is “going to lead humanity into space and plant the American flag on the planet Mars and even far beyond.”

This is in line with one of his presidential campaign goals, which is to send US astronauts to Mars. Standing solidly beside him on this goal is none other than Elon Musk, who believes that Mars can be humanity’s new home.

Baby Steps Towards Sending Humans To Mars

Over the past few years, NASA has made a number of bold steps to better understand the Red Planet. This involves sending rovers to Mars to study its make to help us discover if it will be suitable to host life.

While the mission to send humans to Mars is daunting, it isn’t a fight the US government is backing down from. Other countries like China are also taking bold steps towards understanding Mars and possibly inhabiting the Red Planet.

The space race is on, and President Donald Trump is working to ensure that the US is a world leader in space exploration. Planting the American flag on Mars as well as other planets is the goal, and the US government isn’t looking to be the first country to do this and not a runner-up.
