ChatGPT 4.5: The Next-Level AI You’ve Been Waiting For, But There’s A Catch

In a recently published X post, OpenAI CEO announced the release of ChatGPT 4.5, as he highlighted a few of its unique features. Well, this post not only comes with the good news about the release of this LLM but also some bad news about its operational requirements.

We Need More GPUs, Cries OpenAI CEO Sam Altman

In the X post announcing the launch of the new ChatGPT 4.5 LLM entry, Sam Altman claims that “it is the first model that feels like talking to a thoughtful person to me.” He also adds that the AI model is capable of giving “actually good advice” keeping it a step ahead of the previous ChatGPT 4.0 LLM entry if it succeeds.

However, the new ChatGPT 4.5 model is not all awesome, as Sam Altman identifies some issues that this new LLM entry comes with. The main issue to the end users of this LLM will be its cost, as Altman says that the new ChatGPT 4.5 “is a giant, expensive model.”

OpenAI ChatGPT 4.5 Costs

For now, this new LLM entry is only available to ChatGPT Pro users as it will cost about $75 for an input of about 750,000 words. Altman identifies the reason for the jaw-dropping pricing of this new OpenAI LLM entry.

According to his X post regarding this LLM entry’s launch, he says that due to OpenAI’s enormous growth in its user base, the AI firm is “out of GPUs.” By this week, OpenAI is to add more GPUs to their servers and possibly make the new LLM entry available to ChatGPT Plus users as well.

If you use a Plus account, you can expect to pay more to get access to the new LLM entry and get less word input than Pro users. Speaking of his firm, OpenAI, Altman assures users that “this isn’t how we want to operate.” He adds that “it’s hard to perfectly predict growth surges that lead to GPU shortages.”

OpenAI isn’t the only AI firm in the industry facing this issue of lack of GPUs to smoothly run its LLMs. Various firms and regions are pushing for the development of intelligent data centres to cater for their processing needs.

What To Expect From The New OpenAI ChatGPT 4.5 LLM Entry

With the current race in the AI industry, there are a lot of high expectations for new AI models that are rolling out. For most people, these expectations involve smashing existing records set by the competition.

Sam Altman, being fully aware of this high standard set by end users, clarifies that the new ChatGPT 4.5 “isn’t a reasoning model.” For this reason, users aren’t to expect it to crush any benchmarks, as this “is a different kind of intelligence.”

Users will be able to “engage in warm, intuitive, naturally flowing conversations” as Mia Glaese, the OpenAI VP points out in an interview with the New York Times. She adds that the new LLM entry “has a stronger understanding of what users mean when they ask for something.”

So if you want to have a natural conversation with an AI model, OpenAI will love for you to try out their new LLM entry. According to the AI firm, this new model is ten times more efficient than its predecessors but somehow needs many more GPUs.
