Self-Replicating Robots? Apptronik’s Humanoid Robots Are Now Building Themselves
27th Feb 2025
The robotics industry is booming, and the Apptronik Humanoid Robots are one of the many products making the headlines and this time for an intriguing reason. Thanks to a new partnership, these robots are now preparing to enter the manufacturing ground and produce more of themselves.
Apptronik And Jabil Enter A Strategic Partnership To Mass Produce Humanoid Robots
On 23 August 2023 Apptronik, an Austin-based robot manufacturer, took to the launch stage to unveil their humanoid robot. This robot, Apollo, is the first Apptronik robot safe for human interaction, and it has been undergoing various refinements over the past few years.
However, ever since its launch up until this time, Apollo has not been able to make it into the mass production manufacturing phase. While this seems like a drawback for Apptronik, the firm has been able to close deals with brands like Mercedes-Benz and more recently Jabil.
This new deal with Jabil will put Apollo through a series of factory tests as both firms will partner to bring the humanoid robot up to performance. Once the series of in-factory tests to be conducted on Apollo confirms it is suitable for mass production, we expect to see something interesting.
For the mass production of the Apollo humanoid robots, Apptronik and Jabil will use Apollo as a factory worker. This means that the Apollo robots will help in the mass production of more Apollo robots.
Jabil points out that Apollo will help out with “simple, repetitive intralogistics and manufacturing tasks for this factory testing.” Its performance here will determine how soon the mass production of this humanoid robot will kick off.
Apptronik also expresses optimism that Apollo mass production will commence in 2026. In the coming months, the performance of Apollo on the Jabil manufacturing plant will tell us how soon we are to expect mass production.
Who Will Have Access To The Apptronik Humanoid Robots
With the current boom in the robotics industry, we are seeing a ton of household humanoid robots in development. The coming Apollo robot from Apptronik will not be a household robot, as it is designed for manufacturing processes.
So those who will have access to this robot once it rolls out will be factory owners looking to boost production with the help of robots. If you don’t own a factory looking to integrate robots into your manufacturing process, then you might not be able to lay hands on the Apollo robot.
