The Future Is Here: This UK Robot Walks, Lifts, And Learns Like A Human
16th Feb 2025
UK AI and robotics startup firm Humanoid has successfully unveiled its Humanoid robot, which packs lots of impressive features. Being a new entry into the robotics industry, this UK startup’s robot has a long way to go but seems ready to take on the competition.
Humanoid Robot Unveils The HMND01 Robot
A few days ago, Humanoid took to its official platforms to announce the launch of its new HMND01 robot. On X, it introduced the HMND01 as a robot that “features cutting-edge AI, motion control, and modular hardware for real-world automation.”
While the startup, Humanoid, is relatively young, its achievement on this new product is impressive. Some of the available specifications of this robot are its height, weight, walking speed, runtime, motion freedom, and lift capacity.
The new Humanoid robot is 175cm in height, weighs 70kg, and has a walking speed of 1.5ms which is impressive for a robot. HMND01 can also last 4 hours on a full charge, lift a 15km payload and possess 41 degrees of motion freedom.
According to Humanoid, the startup’s new robot “achieves human-level or higher manipulation speeds for complex tasks and can navigate confined spaces with exceptional accuracy.” This will be ideal for real-world usage, as the HMND01 robot boasts the ability to work as efficiently as a human would in certain situations.
For usability, the new HMND01 is fully customizable as it offers “upper-body, lower-body, and end-effector configurations to ensure adaptability, better meet their requirements, and reduce costs.” Humanoid also says that the HMND01 is “suitable for mass commercialization” as it offers a low cost of ownership.
UK Startup Humanoid Is Walking Its Way Into The Robotics Industry
Over the past few years, we have seen a lot of robotics companies around the world make big moves in the industry. More recently, China has been on full power in the robotics industry, with top firms showing off the capabilities of their products.
Humanoid on its part is a UK robotics and AI startup that was founded in 2024 by popular jeweller Artem Sokolov. The HMND01 is the firm’s first entry into the robotics industry and will go up against competition from not only American firm, Boston Dynamics but also a ton of Chinese firms.
Over the coming months, Humanoid will need to show off the ability of its HMND01 robot to the worldwide audience to make it stand out among the competition. According to the startup, “In 2025, we plan to develop and test our alpha prototype for two platforms — wheeled and bipedal.”
In an official statement, Artem Sokolov says that Humanoid is “also in ongoing discussions with leading retail companies for potential pilot projects.” In the coming months, we will not only get to see this robot in action but also get to learn more about its features and abilities.
