Netflix for Space? Sen Just Launched the Ultimate 4K Earth Live Stream

Views of space are now even more possible without the use of a telescope after Sen launched their 4K Earth live stream. Going forward, British company Sen has bolstered their virtual offering by giving users the ability to “experience amazing views of Earth and space,” their statement read

Sen has been working in tandem with the International Space Station (ISS) to beam their views of space. However, nothing has been confirmed regarding Sen’s operations post the planned deorbiting of ISS in 2031.

Nevertheless, Sen founder and CEO, Charles Black, commented: “I want to thank the amazing team at Sen and all our investors who have helped make this possible. We’re excited to share these amazing 4K live views of Earth. This mission really is for all humanity and we hope our livestream will be a valuable application that empowers everyone with real-time information, and that it will inspire people.”

Experiencing Earth From Space From The Comfort Of Your Home

Through Ultra High Definition 4K live streaming, Sen will monitor space and Earth daily for more than 20 hours. There is a brief stint of downtime that arises from signal loss due to the onground inter-satellite relay link and the in-space communications unit. Nonetheless, for almost 80% of an Earthly day, users can access views of space to vicariously experience the perspective of an astronaut. Sen said everyone can now access their live stream via their website, as well as streaming platforms like YouTube

The World’s First Commercial In-Space Live Streaming

According to Sen, their commercial operation is a world-first after their 4K stream commenced in late January 2025. Sen is currently forecasting that billions of people will access their platform, with hopes that the stream will “inform, educate, inspire and benefit humanity.” In addition to the educational aspect, Sen also said their stream will provide tangible environmental monitoring, inviting the world “to witness planetary change.”

How Sen Streams Their Views Of Space & Earth

Through their own satellites in orbit and cameras mounted to ISS, they’re able to bring views of space to Earth. The camera in question is labelled SpaceTV-1 which they said is “hosted on the International Space Station” via their contract with Airbus. To achieve their live stream, they’ve mounted a camera to the ArgUS plate located on Airbus’ bartolomeo platform which is latched to the European Space Agency’s Columbus module onboard ISS.

Each of the three cameras operates with various angles. The first being, a panoramic wide angle lens which captures the horizon of Earth. Secondly, their next camera records Earth from above at a rate of 240 km x 180 km, Sen said. The video company added that “each pixel represent[s] approximately 60 m of the ground.” Finally, their third camera has been set up to be “forward-facing” recording the docking port on Harmony that’s attached to the ISS.

While utilising commercial and government agency partnerships has aided Sen, they’re also looking to leverage their own spacecraft. The company said their orbital satellite ETV-A1 and other satellite projects are in the midst of preparing for in-space live streaming. Once fully operational, more shots of Earth from space should hit Earthly screens from 2026.
