Frequent SpaceX Rocket Launches Have Become The Terror Of Some Towns

Business Insiders have taken it upon themselves to speak with residents in areas where SpaceX Rocket launches are frequent to get their viewpoints on these launches. The area in question where this interview focused its attention is the Space Force Base in California, as well as other launch sites in Florida and Texas.

Residents In Areas With Frequent SpaceX Rocket Launches Are Complaining

This interview conducted by the folks at Business Insider shows that residents of areas where SpaceX Rocket launches are frequent reveal that getting sleep is difficult. Various residents of areas around these launch sites had similar reports to give the interviewers.

Inga Yater, a resident of Carpinteria in California, says that the launches “keep getting worse; sometimes I feel like I’m having a heart attack.” She also states that she gets panic attacks during the period of these launches as a result of the noise the rockets make once they’re fired up.

Inga’s reports are concerning considering the fact that Carpinteria is about 70 miles away from the SpaceX launch site in California. Moving closer to the launch site, residents of areas like Lompoc report some sonic booms that are similar to an earthquake, making sleeping at night very difficult during launches.

Over the past few years, the launches from SpaceX’s various launch sites have become more frequent. This is a result of the numerous Starlink launches and business growth as it serves the space launch needs of more institutions and government agencies.

Due to the frequency of these launches, noise pollution in the regions surrounding these launch sites has seen a spike in recent years. Is there any hope or work around the disturbance caused by the frequent SpaceX Rocket launches?

A Workaround For the Frequent SpaceX Rocket Launches

Considering the complaints from residents of areas around SpaceX Rocket launch sites, there needs to be some workaround to assure them some peace of mind. While ending these rocket launches in these areas entirely might not be possible, areas like Vandenberg have offered some awareness for its residents.

Those living in Vandenberg receive an SMS alert informing them of the coming launches that might impact their area with noise pollution. These SMS alerts give residents a heads-up, so the launches don’t take them by surprise, and they can stay prepared.

However, some residents say that these SMS alerts aren’t always reliable. From the Business Insider interview of residents around the SpaceX Rocket launch sites, we learn that these alerts don’t give a good idea of the intensity of the noise impact of these launches.

There needs to be more attention to this issue to better provide a workaround for the noise pollution and tremors that residents around the launch sites complain about. At this point, there is no word from SpaceX concerning this report from Business Insider.
