Spectacular Planet Parade: How to Spot Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn Aligning in January 2025

Between 15th and 21st January 2025, stargazers will be able to see a few planets in our solar system during a cosmic event known as a planet parade. In January 2025, planets like Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn will appear at their closest points in the sky; this phenomenon is known as a conjunction.

What Is A Planet Parade?

A planet parade is simply a celestial phenomenon that occurs in Earth’s solar system, where some planets align close to each other and can be visible from Earth. This event is also known as a planet alignment, although the planets visible from Earth aren’t in a physical alignment.

For the planet parade to occur this month, we expect to be able to see planets like Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn seemingly marching across the night sky. While this coming celestial event is to start on 15 January 2025, it is set to peak on the 17th and 18th of January 2025.

For their locations during the planet parade, Mars will be stationed towards the east, while Jupiter will be visible right above Earth. As for the other planets like Venus and Saturn, they will both be visible on the southwestern horizon during the celestial event.

Mars is set to kick off this year’s planet parade as it will be visible from Earth on 13 January 2025 when the full moon passes its front. Planets like Uranus and Neptune will not be as visible as other planets during this solar event, as we’ll need a telescope to view them during this planet parade.

How To View The Planets During The Planet Parade in January?

During the coming planet parade to take place in a few days, six planets will be visible in the night sky. Four planets will be visible with the naked eye, while two planets will be visible in the night sky using a telescope.

The joy of a space parade for most skygazers is that they don’t need to go through much stress to the planets in the sky. All they need to do is step out at night and look towards the direction where each planet will be visible in the night sky.

Through the course of this celestial event, the location of the various planets will keep changing as the planets move around their orbits. Regardless of their location, the best time to view these planets in the night sky will be between 17th and 18th January 2025.
