Will There Be An Addition To The Resident Evil Franchise In 2025

If you’re a gamer, then you must have either heard of or even played any entry in the Resident Evil Franchise since its original launch 30 years ago. Through the course of this year, there have been a lot of rumours about a coming addition to the franchise, leading many to wonder if the game holds for 2025.

The Future Of The Resident Evil Franchise

Despite all the rumours of a new Resident Evil game coming in 2025 the game’s developer Capcom has been silent regarding any information on what it might be working on. One of the major rumours on the claimed Resident Evil entry for 2025 is that Jill and Leon (characters in the game) will be the protagonists.

At the 2024 Game Awards, fans of the horror game franchise hoped to get some details on what might be in Capcom’s production pipeline. However, during the event, nothing was said about any coming successor to the Resident Evil 4 remake that hit the launch stage on 24 March 2023.

The only official information we have on this forthcoming game was revealed at the Capcom Next 2024 event, where we learnt that the Resident Evil game will bring back Nakanishi as director. Nakanishi has directed over 5 Resident Evil games, with the most recent release being Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, which hit the launch stage on 24 January 2017.

Speaking of the upcoming game, Nakanishi says that he “can’t share any details just yet.” However, he expressed his excitement about what he is working on and looks forward to sharing more details once Capcom is ready to share them.

Based on his speech, it might be safe to expect something from Capcom next year as an addition to the Resident Evil Franchise. By 2025, we might have more information on the successor to the Resident Evil 4 Remake entry.

A Resident Evil Documentary Confirmed For 2025

To kick off 2025, fans of the game will be greeted by George A. Romero’s Resident Evil documentary. This documentary will shed light on “the vision that director George A. Romero had for an adaptation of Resident Evil.”

It will use “newly filmed interviews with those who were there and unravel the secrets behind why it was never produced.” The documentary will be released on 7 January 2025 and be available for viewing at the Box Office.

This documentary aims to explain why the adaptation of Resident Evil by George A. Romero didn’t hit screens. It might also give insight into what a Resident Evil sci-fi movie will look like if any gets released in the coming years.
