NASA Shares Heartwarming Christmas Message From Sunita Williams And ISS Crew (Video)
24th Dec 2024NASA astronaut Sunita Williams and her fellow crew members aboard the International Space Station (ISS) have shared a festive Christmas message to Earth. In a heartwarming video, Williams and her colleagues discuss their holiday plans while celebrating Christmas in space.
Celebrating Christmas In Space
In the Christmas Message, Sunita Williams, the ISS Commander, expressed her excitement about spending the holidays with her six crewmates. She shared how she relished every moment with her crew during this special time despite being far from home.
“Welcome to the International Space Station as we get ready for the Christmas holidays. It’s a great time up here, and we get to spend it with all of our ‘family’ on the ISS. There are seven of us here, and we’re going to enjoy each other’s company,” she said.
Festive Atmosphere And Special Treats
Williams is seen in the video wearing a red t-shirt, while three of her colleagues are sporting Santa hats. Together, they set up a Christmas tree to add to the festive spirit.
“We’ve got a couple of little things with us to prepare for the holidays, and it’s going to be fun in a few days,” Williams added.
Her fellow astronauts also mentioned that a large food delivery arrived, bringing special ingredients to the space station. After a recent SpaceX resupply mission, the astronauts received gifts and fresh ingredients so that they could enjoy festive meals during the Christmas season
Christmas Message From Astronauts To Earth
In a heartfelt message to Earth, one of Williams’ colleagues said, “Christmas time, the holiday season, is about spending time with friends and family… This year, we’re going to be away from them. So, we want to send our heartfelt Merry Christmas and wish you all a wonderful holiday.”
He also acknowledged in her Christmas message that many people were supporting them on the ground. “There’s a huge team on the ground, working through mission controls around the world to help us, especially during the holidays,” he added. “I want to thank them for the sacrifices they are making. Together, we work hand-in-hand with the ground daily, and we keep this mission going over the holidays.”
