SatVu Secures £20 Million for Thermal Imaging Advancements

SatVu, a leading innovator in climate technology, has raised £20 million to develop its cutting-edge thermal imaging capabilities. The funding, which includes £10 million from an equity round co-led by Adara Ventures and Molten Ventures, marks the launch of Adara’s Energy Fund aimed at advancing Europe’s energy transition. An additional insurance payout also contributed to the total.

Expanding the HotSat Constellation

Building on the success of HotSat-1, launched in 2023, SatVu plans to deploy HotSat-2 and HotSat-3 by 2025. HotSat-1 introduced high-resolution, 3.5-meter thermal imaging data, setting a new benchmark for monitoring carbon emissions and energy activities. The upcoming satellites will enhance this capability with near real-time thermal insights, aiding in climate resilience, infrastructure monitoring, and economic analysis.

SatVu CEO Anthony Baker emphasised the significance of this progress: “The launch of HotSat-2 and HotSat-3 will bring us closer to a net-zero future by providing the data needed to address the most pressing environmental and energy challenges.”

Industry Support for Innovation

Adara Ventures’ Founding Partner, Alberto Gomez, highlighted the importance of SatVu’s technology in addressing critical global challenges: “SatVu is unlocking new opportunities for data applications that monitor energy efficiency, economic activity, and renewable generation.”

In addition to climate resilience, SatVu’s advancements are expected to support national security and energy infrastructure monitoring. Patrick McCall of Seraphim noted that the new satellites will deliver transformative insights into emission dynamics and energy production, empowering decision-makers globally.

Driving Towards Sustainability

By leveraging thermal imaging, SatVu is equipping industries and governments with actionable intelligence to tackle pressing environmental issues. This funding will accelerate the company’s mission to create a sustainable, data-driven future.
