26th Nov 2024The KNMI has named a new storm, Storm Conall, and it is currently gaining momentum as it drives towards the UK and the Netherlands. According to the weather analysis performed by the KNMI, about 10 areas in the Netherlands will be impacted by this storm in the coming days.
Possible Effects Of The Coming Storm Conall
The Netherlands and the UK are to expect heavy rainfall and a lot of winds tomorrow. This will be a result of the movement of Storm Conall as it advances from the North Atlantic Ocean. According to the forecast, the majority of this storm will hit the Netherlands, with the UK receiving a lower-intensity storm. However, certain parts of the UK are still recovering from the effects of Storm Bert. The Netherlands has announced a code yellow for Zeeland, South Holland, North Holland, Flevoland, Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, IJsselmeer area and the Wadden Islands.

The UK’s Met Office has also announced a yellow weather warning for southern areas in the UK. As a result of the storm, regions in the Netherlands and the UK might face flooding and heavy traffic. The storm will also bring heavy gusts of winds at speeds of up to 120km/h.
In the UK, rain is expected to begin this evening and persist through midday tomorrow. Steve Wellington, Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, reported that “most warning areas will receive 15-20 mm of rain, with some locations seeing up to 30-40 mm.”
Further updates on the storm’s progression and impacts will be provided in the coming hours. This will be the third storm that will be hitting the UK this year, following Storm Ashley and Bert. Areas in the UK that will face heavy rainfall as a result of Storm Conall will be southern England and Wales.
