Met Office Warns Of Tough Weather
While the residents are enjoying the first snow, the Met Office has released three new yellow weather warnings for snow and ice, cautioning about potential disruptions for drivers, public transport, power outages, and the risk of rural areas becoming isolated.
“A period of rain, sleet and snow will occur during Monday night and into Tuesday morning,” the Met Office reported.
According to the weather forecast, the most likely outcome is that the majority of the snow will accumulate on higher ground, with 5 to 10 cm expected above 200 meters and potentially 15 to 20 cm above 300 meters. Snow settling at lower elevations, where 5 to 10 cm could cause significant disruption, is also possible. This is still uncertain but appears most likely in parts of Derbyshire.
“As the rain, sleet, and snow move out of the northern part of the warning area early on Tuesday morning, icy conditions may develop on untreated surfaces,” they added.
