Take a guided tour of our first-floor Hintze Hall balconies and Minerals Gallery and hear the gripping stories of the female scientists whose contributions changed our understanding of space. Encounter numerous treasures, including rare meteorites, as you learn about the research of female space scientists past and present, including some who’ve worked at the Museum. Mimi’s Space Adventure, Saturday Family Day!

Mimi wants to know all about how the world around her works and so when her essay ‘Everything I’ve Ever Wanted to Know About Space’ wins her a trip to mission control, she couldn’t be happier! Experience this new story come to life at the Institute of Physics’ new family-friendly exhibition: Mimi’s Space Adventure and join it for a special Saturday opening.
Get hands-on with fun physics experiments for all the family, be creative with arts and crafts activities, and meet our wonderful physicists to find out how you could travel through space.

The final day of August Children’s month promises to end with a ‘Big Bang’! It culminates with an orbital-themed mission as the Armagh Planetarium brings its state-of-the-art space dome to our venue. Children will be mesmerised by immersive star and planet shows, engaging talks, and the exciting hands-on experience of a rocket-making workshop using recycled materials. This is a stellar opportunity for young minds to explore the wonders of the universe!
Holiday workshops: Exploring the solar system (ages 9–11)

Based in a delightful 4-star hotel, over this weekend you will enjoy a series of fascinating lectures that will cover the big bang through to the James Webb Space Telescope. The weekend will be hosted by Abigail Beall, a New Scientist features editor and astronomer. She will guide you through naked-eye stargazing at night. Additionally, you can explore the southern hemisphere’s skies through a remote astronomy demonstration that connects with a telescope in Australia.
You will also hear from leading astronomers, astrophysicists and cosmologists, who will teach you about galaxy formation, the latest research into black holes and what iconic telescopes have already revealed.
