‘Halo’ Canceled After Two Seasons at Paramount+

After two seasons, the live-action “Halo” series has been canceled at Paramount+. Based on the popular Xbox video game franchise, the show first aired in 2022, with the second season running from February to March 2024. Paramount+ Statement and Future Prospects

Paramount+ confirmed the cancellation in a statement, expressing pride in the series and gratitude to partners Xbox, 343 Industries, and Amblin Television. They thanked showrunner David Wiener, executive producers, cast, and crew for their work. Despite the cancellation, Xbox, Amblin TV, and 343 Industries are exploring options to continue the series elsewhere.

343 Industries acknowledged the show’s global success and thanked fans, affirming their commitment to expanding the “Halo” universe in other ways.

Plot and Cast

Pablo Schreiber starred as Master Chief John-117, a super soldier in the 26th century battling the Covenant, a group of alien races. The cast included Natascha McElhone, Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, and Danny Sapani.

Kyle Killen and Steven Kane developed the series, with David Wiener taking over as showrunner for Season 2. Executive producers included Steven Spielberg, Justin Frank, Daryl Falvey, Otto Bathurst, Toby Leslie, Scott Pennington, Kiki Wolfkill, Frank O’Connor, and Bonnie Ross.

The “Halo” series had a long development journey, initially planned as a movie in 2005. After various adaptations and delays, it finally premiered as a TV series nearly a decade later.
