Nowadays, the MIURA 1 is at the Teruel airport, where it will undergo qualification tests during 5 months to ensure that the rocket is in optimal conditions for the TestFlight-1, the inaugural take-off in the second half of 2022.

Thanks to the developments by PLD Space, Spain has become part of the exclusive club of countries that can successfully launch space transport vehicles.

The First Step Towards a Complete Space Transportation Vehicle

According to Raúl Torres and Raúl Verdú, the founders of PLD Space, the MIURA 1 is the first step towards developing and launching a larger and recoverable commercial launcher, the MIURA 5.

The MIURA 5 uses 70% of the technology present in the MIURA 1. Therefore, a successful launch of the MIURA 1 will mark an important milestone for the entire project.

The MIURA 1 is the first test to ensure that PLD Space can successfully launch rockets into space. After the TestFlight-1 in 2022, the company plans to launch the MIURA 5 in 2024, which would make it the first complete space transport vehicle in Spain.
