18th Annual Scottish Legal Awards Celebrates Laura Edison of Skyrora, Among Others12th Oct 2021
Glasgow had a lot to celebrate in September as the 18th annual Scottish legal awards were held to a lot of fanfare and celebration; the event gave out 17 awards to notable individuals and teams, contributing to the growth of their respective law firms. More than 300 guests attended the event dinner and subsequent award ceremony. For the first time ever, the event was also broadcasted online to viewers watching from home.
Laura Edison from Skyrora was awarded an in-house lawyer of the year
The award ceremony was filled with cheerful buzz as the coveted Firm of the Year award was presented to Jones Whyte, a Glasgow-based law firm that has experienced an unhindered growth through the year. The judging panel praised the firm for its strategic plan, impressive fiscal results during the pandemic, and managerial style.
Livingstone Brown collected the Managing Partner of the Year award and the Criminal Defense Team of the Year.
The in-house lawyer of the year was awarded to Laura Edison of Skyrora for her contributions to the space sector. Skyrora is a Scottish launch vehicle developer and manufacturer. Skyrora has been pushing for more recognition of Scottish-led space firms and for more funding into the British space sector. Laura Edison expressed her joy over being honored and complimented her team on the achievement.
Lifetime achievement award received by Lorna Jack
The coveted Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Lorna Jack for her contribution to transforming the Society of Scotland through improvements to governance, outreach to members and stakeholders, and transparency.
