Donovan N'Gum: Virgin Orbit Space Internship in Avionics

A North Carolina State University student, Donovan has become one of the first applicants to receive a Patti Grace Smith fellowship. Since his early years, Donovan has been inspired to spend his career in the space industry. He is a part of the Avionics Group and develops software in Python for testing. Amazingly, this young man has helped Virgin Orbit with the recent historic flight named Tubular Bells: Part One after Mike Oldfield’s debut album recorded by Virgin Records in 1973. Now Donovan is working on Tubular Bells: Part Two flight by developing a model for battery consumption.

Sophie Eberhardt: Virgin Orbit Space Internship in Propulsion

Sophie is a student of Washington University in St. Louis. To join Virgin’s propulsion team, she moved to the Mojave site, experiencing massive climatic adaptation after the East Coast. But it was totally worth it! Sophie managed to get invaluable experience working in the second-stage engine of LauncherOne. Besides, she has got a console operator certificate. And now, Sophie can test the vehicles and support technicians from the Mojave Mission Control Center.

Maor is a senior student at Purdue University. He has already got diversified experience working for Purdue Space Program. But he would never miss a chance to get some more at Virgin Orbit. He joined the team to work on the payload integration of the LauncherOne.

Virgin Orbit has shown itself from various sides, and its achievements are truly inspiring. The latest Sir Richard Branson’s trip to the edge of space has only multiplied that effect. No wonder many young talents are excited to try themselves in Virgin Orbit Space Internship.
