23rd Jun 2021A brand new event will be launched today for the space industry, specifically tackling the question of sustainability. Full details of the event can be found here…
The event is backed by the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, European Space Agency and the Scottish Space Leadership Council. Some of the prominent speakers include Dr. Richard Nixon, a Director at Friends of the Earth, Andrea Vena, Chief Climate & Sustainability Officer at European Space Agency and Philippa Vegano, Innovative Technologies at NatureScot as well as many other prestigious guest speakers.
Prior to the Scottish city of Glasgow hosting the COP26 Climate Change Summit, the space industry are holding this event to discuss its role in tackling the climate change crisis.
This follows on from the Sustainable Space Challenge campaign that was launched earlier in 2021 in which the organisers asked for submissions of environmental and sustainability focussed challenges. Submissions were then judged by a panel of experts. A short list of the submissions are then discussed in workshops run by space industry representatives.
