Sutherland Spaceport Procedural Hearing Postponed until June

Sutherland spaceport procedural hearing, originally planned for 1st April, was rescheduled to 15th April. The hearing was to take place at the Court of Session in Edinburgh. However, it will now go direct to a three day hearing on 8th June 2021.

Sutherland Spaceport Opposition

The successful petition against UK spaceport in Sutherland was filed by Wildland Ltd. Its owner, Anders Holch Povlsen, happens to own large estates in the Sutherland area. One of them, Eriboll Estate, borders on the future Sutherland Space Hub at A’Mhoine peninsula.

According to Wildland, Sutherland spaceport construction will endanger the environment and ecology by damaging the landscape. The organisation also claims that Spaceport Sutherland project has very limited benefits.

According to Tim Kirkwood, Wildlife CEO, Sutherland Space Hub hearing has been rescheduled several times. However, the three day hearing in June is looking very likely to proceed. So, the court is yet to determine the fate of Sutherland spaceport project, but the Spaceport Consortium will find out the fate of the site this year.
