One hundred applicants were in the race to grab the prestigious Skyrora internship positions, however only two managed to snag the prize. David King and Bethany Taylor are now heading to Edinburgh, where the company has its manufacturing facility and headquarters.

Skyrora is among the top space industry companies in the UK that are in full support of Scotland’s ambition to become one of the leaders in the UK space race. Adding the two interns to the program brings in a wealth of knowledge given their specific qualifications.

Bethany is from the University of Edinburgh, studying Mechanical Engineering, while David comes from the University of Sheffield and his field of study is Aerospace Engineering.

The pair are well placed within the Skyrora technical team with such backgrounds. The two will have a hand in production, launches, and stage testing. The ultimate goal is to be part of the team that enables Skyrora to attain its 2021 goals.

First Impression at Skyrora

David expressed his thrill after landing one of the 2 Skyrora internship positions. He is looking forward to working with the technical team. Bethany was equally excited as she intends to learn the business’ ins and outs.

As the UK space industry grows, more opportunities are arising for graduates. Currently, the industry has over 40,000 employees and produces close to £5.7 billion annually. A fair share of this growth is seen in Scotland, which hosts more than 100 space industry companies employing 7,500 individuals.

Skyrora has made a name for itself as one of the UK’s leading aerospace companies thanks to a series of innovative designs like the eco-liquid fuel. Simultaneously, Skyrora is one of the few companies that boast of test launches that have gone according to plan.
